Taking it Easy

I'm exhausted and should be sleeping, but I've beeing wanting to write about this for a while. This will be quick writing, so I apologize for its sloppiness.
I'm on doctor's orders to take it easy. It all started a week ago. I was having some cramping in the morning, and noticed spotting in the afternoon. I've never had any spotting or bleeding during pregnancy before, and it really scared me. I called my the doctor who was on-call for my OB (it was New Year's day, so the office was closed), and she told me to be on bedrest until I could get into the office the next morning.
I was so scared. As the nurse tried to find a heartbeat with the doppler, I grew more anxious. She was having trouble finding it. I remember thinking, "My baby's dead." I almost started crying, when finally a little heartbeat came up! It was music to my ears. I then had an ultrasound, and everything looks great. However, my doctor still wants me to take precautions for the next four weeks. He said to "take it easy", which means nothing stressful (like taking my kids shopping), nothing strenuous (like shoveling snow), and, [STOP! if you are my older brother and whish to continue to believe that I am still a virgin, don't read on!] much to my husband's dismay, no sex (okay, I admit I'm a little bummed about that one too).
If I start cramping, I'm to lay down immediately and put my feet up. If I get tired, I'm supposed to rest. Which basically means that my house is a disaster and will be for the next four weeks, and that my kids will be watching a lot of movies. We're pretty much in survival mode right now. But this too shall pass.
I'm just glad the baby is okay, and I don't want to do anything that might compromise his/her wellbeing. Wish us luck!

I hope things get better so you don't have to take things so "easy" that you get bored!
Owen tells me almost every day, "Westley is going to come sleep at my house." So if you ever want to have a break for a day or two, let me know and we'll figure out a way to get him (and Marcus, too, if you want) up here.

That is so scary! I'm glad everything is on the up and up. I wish we lived nearby so I could help. . .we'll pray for you!

I'll post my cousin's number on myfamily and email her about you. She is awesome with kids and would be more than willing to help you out. Seriously, she is one of the coolest people I know.
That is the most help that I can extend. Her youngest just turned three, right in between Westley and Marcus.

We love you, good luck.

Oh--so scary. I hope things get better for you! Does nothing strenuous include not coming over to play at our house?? We are still sick right now-otherwise I would have called you this week! Let me know if we can do anything for you--the boys can come over and play sometime if you need to rest. When we get rid of our colds I will come get your boys one day.

Good luck Lura. We'll be praying for you. (PS I had already figured out that you are no longer a virgin. I'm not sure whether Cory has or not.)

Thanks everybody for your willingness to help and your well wishes! Leslie, we can still come play some time when you guys are feeling better.
(PS- Jamie, that warning was mostly for Cory's sake; I'm not sure if he's ready to face the facts yet)

What are you talking about!

Bah. That stinks. Been there, and it's a pain. But oh so necessary. Release all of your guilt right now and just hunker down. It's 100% ok if your kids rot their brains on TV for the next several weeks - mine did, and they've turned out ok so far.

I had to laugh about your sex restrictions... ;). You're NOT a virgin? Oh my gosh!!

Thanks for the reassurance, Heidi. It's nice to hear it's okay to just hunker down. But it's so hard!
